In middle school, my head teacher had a distinct preference for boys. The naughty boys in the class were in her words smart kids who didn't like to study, while the girls in the class who excelled in their studies were in her words unintelligent kids who only worked hard. During class cleanup, she made us girls clean the classroom and move the tables without a single compliment afterwards.
